Off and on for the past few years, I’ve been streaming on Twitch. I know, I’m that person. With the switch to work from home, I’ve been doing it a lot more often, to the point where now I stream three times a week and am attempting to make it a thing. And a few weeks ago, I played one of the best games I’ve played in a long time.
In Tangle Tower, you’re Detective Grimoire and you and your partner Sally find yourselves in a strange mansion on an island in the middle of nowhere. In that mansion live two families in two different towers. One of the youngest members of the Fellows family has been murdered while painting a portrait that includes a bloody knife and you must find out what happened, along with uncovering other mysteries along the way.
I can’t say enough about this game. The detective mechanics are great, giving you just enough room to puzzle things out for yourself and not punishing you if you get a thing wrong. The art is gorgeous and the character designs are out of this world. The writing is clever, keeping you going and making you giggle as you make your way and it’s fully voice acted which only adds to the experience. This is a game I wish I’d forget just so I could play it again for the first time. I’m sincerely hoping the developers make another game in this series (this is actually not the first Detective Grimoire game! But it is the best) so fingers crossed!
